Triumph T12 is born with her sister, T12.2, for 2012 Tridays and it is a modern interpretation of glorious British café racers. The main modification regards the belt transmission to eliminate maintenance and minimize power loss. Further, it permits to adopt a rear wheel 17” Metzeler Sporttec M3 tyre (160/60 size). At the rear work two higher performances Bitubo absorbers. At the front there is a 2007 Speed Triple fork with a modified hydraulics and a new geometry to copy Bonnie's. The 320 mm disc brakes by Newfren are completed with callipers and radial pump by Brembo. The CNC machined footpegs erase rise (55 mm) and move back (100 mm) the foot position, close to the geometry of Triumph Thruxton. The engine guards, made in plastic materials, disperse the impact on several part instead on one spot. Light steel intake, 180° curved with conic filters bring air to the engine. The 2in2 exhaust, with 45 mm stainless steel intake with new mufflers. The DB killer does not affect negatively on Triumph T12.2 performances. A ECM Tfi unit is installed to optimize the engine modification.
The various modification made are these:
1) Belt transmission
307585: Primarily made to reduce “loss of power” between transmission box and rear wheel, over to eliminate completely maintenance (not cleaning, not greasing, necessary on chain transmission)
65 teeth Alloy Rear pulley
29 teeth Alloy front pinion with “temper steel insert”
130 teeth belt
301904: Has been developed with Bitubo. Rear shock absorber with separate tank, compensated by pressurized gas. Micrometric metal ring for spring preload, Rebound (continuous ring) Compression (clicking knob on the top of separate tank). To make the bike more reactive and easier to entering into a bend, shock absorber are mounted on the bottom into a riser block to rise rear end, we could choice a longer model, but in that case we wouldn’t develop this risers block for those that want to keep original shock absorber. Front fork has been inspired by a prototype made for Ducati 851. The shock absorber used had basically it has the same technology of the rear shock described above but it’s a special made to carry a different load and reach 120mm. of working stroke. Original fork are now totally empty and thanks to the “legs connecting brace” travel (of the fork) is now smoother and more guided. Trial on the new billet racing triple trees remains original, slip-on bars has an angle of 8 degree and accepts original stock control. The complete combination all this research it’s a perfect stability and great confidence with the bike (confirmed by the Bitubo technician first and later from Andreas Güldenfuß of Mo Magazine).
3) The new billet Footrest
306103: These fottrest are made of a special alloy search, developed and hardly tested during 10 years of racing with Buell, this “drivers footrest” offer an excellent grip and comfort also with the rain without damage shoes. Position it’s has been move backward around 100mm. and raised to 55mm, similar to the Truxton model. It use original master cylinder.
4) This new engine crash pad
308514: This part has been designed to dissipate-disperse the power of the collision to more points, avoiding absolutely to concentrate it in one point (also this experience has been tested hardly during race season). Fork and swing arm crash pads use a special material that slide instead caching-grasping asphalt and this why fastener bolt are located internally, instead been out at the same level.
5) Dual intake manifold
304020: This new solution has be developed to allow conical filter to work as they born for, narrow end in the front, large area in the rear, otherwise large surface would create a “vacuum effect” which is not a real improvement. This was possible due to our special 180 degree elbow. The 57mm. diameter tubular stainless steel elbow is produced by a unique patented process that allows the use of thin walled lightweight construction (322gr.including looking-ring, while the K&N filter is 162gr). The quantity of air “bringing in” is so high that mixture result extremely lean (Truxton cup racing map are not nearly enough) therefore is absolutely necessary to add our “fuel injector unit” to add fuel.
Sprint Filter is the only patented water repellent filter that will prevent liquid substances from passing through, allowing it to be used in bad weather conditions. The new P08 WP is a new concept air filter and was born in racing, presently used in World Championships Moto GP Moto 3, Superbike, Supersport and Superstock. Other filter materials tend to break (cotton) or with severe pressure falls (sponge). There isn't another filter in the World built with this patented technology.
P08 WP filter is practically free maintenance. Cleanable just by compressed air from the motor side out and re-insert it in the airbox, does not need washing or oil treatments to retain dust. If maintained in the correct way, will last for the entire life of the bike and will no longer be necessary to replace it. For more tech info see enclosed file and this: www.sprintfilter.net
6) This 2in2 exhaust system is a prototype; headers are made from thin walled (1mm.) lightweight stainless steel and it has 45 mm. diameter exhausts, in combination with the new concept billet muffler, decibels are not muffled with the classics (caps) "db killer" but with our unique exhaust baffle design, resulting in no loss of power.
7) The new front brake rotors has been built by “New Fren” under our design and specification (the Braking Band is Completely Tempered, not to be confuse with today’s brake rotors tempered only in the surface to save time) hub and carrier are made in Ergal. The reason of this solution is obviously to increase braking power, as matter of fact rotors is 340mm. of diameter, but is not the only reason, this large diameter allow, thanks a new bracket the mounting of an assail Brembo caliper and “Keep the Wheel in The Center” as it wouldn’t be mathematical impossible due to the large dimension, unless you want to offset wheel or mount a “slim caliper” without dust seal, therefore, this kit is so far the only one available on the market to combine performance with not compromise. New stainless-steel embroidered brake-line
309013: We could use one of the many aftermarket, but we chose instead to use the original speedo, so we build around a new billet bracket complete of wiring and 4 led (engine-red, neutral-green, high light-blue, indicator-green)
Here below other kit that we installed in this bike:
